Success story touts benefit of arts

Bill Strickland thinks he can convince the Bloomington community to support arts programs to help at-risk youths on the west side simply by being an example of what can be accomplished.

"You get the community behind it by example," said the president of the Manchester Bidwell Corp. "At Manchester Bidwell in 20 years we haven't had any fights, any drugs, any arrests, we have a 98 percent graduation rate, six of our former students are teachers and three (have doctorate degrees)."
